Grab driver - starter kit
To be a grab driver, you need to go through the following steps.
You may opt for step 3 first.
1. PSV class - the instructor provides a flow of what to do to reach the goal of a qualified grab driver.
1.1 goto to link to register to attend class. It is a 6 hours class mandated by APAD. You need to clock in and clock out on the day of training. Pay RM80 (or any amount as per link) and submit the payment slip.
1.2 upon received of your request, grab will notify you. It may take up to 24 hours or longer to receive SMS response.
1.3 once your PSV class is confirmed, you will receive SMS or / and email
1.4 attend the class as per schedule. Make sure you clock in to join and clock out to end
1.5 the class duration is 6 hours and the instructor will cover the end to end process
1.6 book PSV exam
Instructor will provide link for you to book the PSV exam slot
2. Take PSV exam, 1 hour 60 questions multiple choice. You need to answer correctly min 48 questions to pass
2.1 after you book the PSV exam slot, wait for SMS 48 hours before exam
2.2 once you receive the SMS confirm your exam, attend the exam on the day
2.3 you should take time to study or do revision
2.4 you could check your exam result after 2 working days, link will be provided
3. Medical checkup - JPJL8A form
3.1 Download the form and print out a copy
3.2 fill up the relevant sections, then goto clinic to get doctor to fill up the relevant sections and signed. There is blood test for one of the question. Fee ranges between RM60 to RM120. You need to pass the medical checkup. Otherwise, you can't proceed.
*You may choose to go for medical checkup as first step.
4. PSV license
4.1 bring all relevant documents such as PSV exam results, medical checkup report, copy of IC to jpj office to apply for PSV license
4.2 once all documents are furnished with payment of fee RM30, you will be issued with PSV license
5. EHO permit
6. Puspakom car inspection for car built more than 3 years
6.1 car built less than 3 years do not require puspakom inspection
6.2 goto puspakom website, create an id if you do not have one. Login, select the preferred puspakom, date and time slot. Then fill up the car information and PSV license number, make payment. Once done, there will be an email to confirm your booking.
6.3 make sure your car equip with all the relevant tools, refer to the list in the website, car registration card before you go for puspakom on day of booking
6.4 once you complete the puspakom and receive a certificate. You must get a pass, otherwise you need to do second round, until pass.
6.5 with puspakom pass certificate, you may proceed to next step
7. Car insurance for grab
7.1 check if your current car insurance is part of the grab panel. If yes, you could purchase the grab insurance. Otherwise, you need to change insurance company
7.2 for change of insurance company, best if your car insurance is closed to renewal. Then you can switch to new insurance company and plan to start on the renewal date. If your insurance still have some months validity, you need to go to jpj to cancel your road tax, then cancel your insurance, after that switch to new insurance company with grab, then buy new road tax
8. Sosco contribution
8.1 you need to have a mandatory sosco contribution as driver, this is separate from your sosco contribution when you are an employee
8.2 create an account, goto sosco website to create one
8.3 you need to choose the package suits you and pay the contribution monthly. You may do online bank transfer
9. Submission to grab
9.1 use link below and update all relevant information and attached documents

9.2 once ready, submit to grab
